Netball NSW has launched “Let’s Play Netball”, a campaign to encourage more women and children to try netball in 2015.
Netball has long been the number one participation sport for women in Australia. In NSW alone, there are currently more than 112,000 registered members; a figure Netball NSW is determined to see grow through continual evaluation of existing offerings and the sustained engagement of new audiences, while reconnecting with those who once played.
In recent years, Netball Australia and State Governing Bodies have adapted and introduced a number of programs, to better reflect the changing needs of the wider population and how people wish to engage in sport.
“Netball NSW has regional coordinators and district officers across the entire state, managing an array of programs and competitions in schools, within the community, and in conjunction with our 118 Member Associations,” said Netball NSW chief executive officer.
“Australia is a multicultural society, and a focus for Netball NSW is to work closely with schools and community groups to deliver tailored programs which breakdown barriers to participation and provide opportunities for people to enjoy the benefits of playing netball.”
“In addition to the positive impact sport delivers both physically and mentality, netball is a wonderful vehicle to instill respected social skills such as sharing, tolerance and team work, in a safe and supportive environment,” said Campbell.
The Netball NSW “Let’s Play Netball” campaign also coincides with arguably the most exciting 12-months in the history of Australian netball.
Following the success of the undefeated Australian Diamonds during 2014 – including winning gold at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow – NSW will welcome the world as the State hosts key international tournaments in 2015.
“2015 is set to be an exhilarating year for netball in NSW, with Sydney to host the ANZ Championship Pre-Season Summer Shootout, the Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015, plus other National tournaments.”
“We are anticipating that these global events will capture the public’s imagination and generate heightened interest in netball, with Netball NSW ready to offer a range of participation programs tailored to all ages and abilities,” concluded Carolyn Campbell.
At the centre of the Netball NSW “Let’s Play Netball” campaign is a 2-minute promotional video filmed during the 2014 netball season, featuring real testimonies from grassroots netballers throughout NSW. “Let’s Play Netball” flyers, posters, banners and web tiles complete the promotional collateral, with the Netball NSW Communications Team to rollout a media and public relations campaign during 2015, including the use of digital and social media.
The “Let’s Play Netball” campaign is sponsored by The Athlete’s Foot, the Official Community Partner of Netball NSW.
