The Communications Council has issued a Call for Entries for the 2015 Australian Effie Awards, with the deadline confirmed as Thursday 23rd April 2015.

Running for the seventh consecutive year, the awards recognise effective campaigns that can demonstrate measurable and outstanding results.

This year’s awards will judge 20 categories, including two new additions: PR-Led Campaign, where unpaid earned activity was the primary driver of the result, and The Effective Advertiser of the Year, to celebrate clients who champion effectiveness.

The full list of categories includes:

Effies Chairman, Anthony Freedman, said: “We review the Effies categories each year to ensure they remain relevant and reflect the areas in which our industry is performing. Our new PR-Led category is an important addition, focusing on the power of earned media. We worked with the PRC to ensure the assessment process has been appropriately adapted and hope to see some new and exciting entries in this category this year. Our Advertiser of the Year category was another obvious addition. The Effies are regarded very highly among clients, given the awards champion ideas that deliver real business results. It seemed only right to celebrate the advertiser’s role in driving a culture of effectiveness and accountability in our industry.”

A number of categories were also either merged or removed this year; Food, Confectionary & Snacks are now combined into one category; the Multicultural and Indigenous category has been removed having experienced very low entry numbers previously; Government, Corporate & Social Services split into (a) Government, and (b) Not For Profit and Cause Related Marketing; and, the Digital Platforms category has merged into Digitally Led Ideas returning to one digital category.

In line with Effies Worldwide, the Australian Effie Awards is introducing an Extended and Final Deadline of Thursday 7th May 2015 for those unable to meet the initial On-Time Deadline of Thursday 23rd April – a late fee will also be incurred.

Round One Judging will take place on 3rd June 2015 with finalists announced on 10th June 2015. Round Two Judging is set for 14th July 2015.

The Effie winners will be announced at an awards dinner and presentation in Sydney on Thursday the 3rd of September.

As the peak industry body representing agencies in the marketing communications industry, The Communications Council has been promoting effectiveness for 25 years through both the Australian Effie Awards and previously the AFA Effectiveness Awards.
