Leading Outdoor operator, APN Outdoor, have today announced the major winner of their hotly anticipated Media Attention- It’s a Jungle out there! competition, with Simon Lawson of PHD Melbourne and Nathan Fraser of Starcom Brisbane winning the major prize of a trip to the Galapagos Islands.

The competition was aligned with the release of APN Outdoor’s headline research piece for 2016, Media Attention- It’s a Jungle out there! that was released to market in July. The study was multifaceted with a 3,000 strong quantitative study and metropolitan city, trans-Tasman focus groups.

The highlights put forward by Clarity Strategic Research found that 58% of Australian and New Zealanders see more advertising today than they did in the past, and whilst they feel ambivalent toward advertising in general, consumers are overwhelmingly positive about Outdoor.

The major prize includes a 10 day trip, awarded to the two winners, who will each be accompanied by their representative from APN Outdoor, aboard the National Geographic Endeavour, where the winner will experience a 360° approach, guaranteeing an in-depth encounter with all the Galapagos Island wonders. Home to over 26 animal species, including Darwin finches, Galapagos giant tortoises, marine iguanas and Galapagos penguins, the Galapagos Islands are the only place on earth where you can see these animals in their natural habitat.

Mark Fairhurst, General Manager- Sales, APN Outdoor commented “In a constantly fragmenting media landscape, Outdoor continues to prove itself in the jungle that is media attention. We were very excited for the opportunity to host this once in a life time trip and incorporate this opportunity within our Media Jungle promotion!”

APN Outdoor is Australia and New Zealand’s most progressive Outdoor advertising company; leaders in the Digital Billboard, Billboard, Transit, Rail and Airport advertising categories. Whilst dominating traditional outdoor formats, the company also maintains particular focus on growing and developing their digital portfolio, establishing APN Outdoor as the unrivalled leader in this space. In addition, APN Outdoor have established themselves as vanguards in research, investing in several market leading studies, that prove the power of the medium and foster innovation and growth throughout the sector. APN Outdoor boast over 36,000 high-impact, attention-grabbing locations, dominating major city skylines, roadways, rail-stations and airports across both sides of the Tasman.

Beginning my career in media sales, I enjoyed learning the ropes in a fast paced, dynamic organisation. Making the move to a more strategic, Marketing role and then onto a more focused Marketing, Communications and Partnership position in Australia's leading Outdoor media company, I have been exposed to many facets of trade marketing, partnership management and corporate communications. I have developed a real passion for my work, take great pride in my position and am constantly seeking out new challenges. I pride myself on being a hard worker and when I throw myself into something I do it full force. I thrive when I challenged, and I perform best at pace.
