Omnicom’s app gets ahead in mobile

Omnicom has launched a new app to deliver the latest mobile industry news and developments.

Airwave, Omnicom Media Group’s mobile division, created the Airwave app in partnership with Google to provide a resource for OMG clients and staff.

The app aggregates industry news sources, research and case studies and delivers them in real time.

Airwave is broken down into four areas: ‘what’s hot in mobile’ (latest news), ‘winning with mobile’ (case studies), ‘the full value of mobile’ (research) and ‘tools and tactics’ (leveraging mobile for business).

Leigh Terry, CEO of Omnicom Media Group ANZ, said: “Within the media business we are no longer looking at mobile as a place to stick ads. With 36% of mobile interactions now on a smartphone, mobile is now at the epicentre of a connected ecosystem.

“The development of the Airwave app is another example of how our Airwave team have placed a flag in the ground for mobility.”

Lisa Bora, Google Australia’s head of agency sales and development, added: “There is no denying the importance of mobile phones in people’s lives today. We have moved from ‘why mobile?’ to ‘how do I build an effective mobile strategy for my clients?’.

“At Google we are delighted to be working with partners such as OMG to help them educate their clients on the full value of mobile. The Airwave app is an important tool for continued education and innovation in the mobile space.”

The app can be downloaded from Google Play and the iTunes store.
