Michael Hussey’s final test-cricket hurrah topped the non-news programs on Sunday as fans tuned in to see the conclusion of ‘Mr Cricket’s’ test career.
The match attracted an audience of 961,000 viewers for Nine according to OzTam’s preliminary overnight metro ratings.
The game was Sunday’s third most watched show and proved most popular in Melbourne where it pulled an audience of 294,000 viewers.
Nine’s The Cricket Show also performed well in fifth place with 867,000 viewers.
On Seven, World’s Most Extreme Airports pulled in 954,000 viewers in fourth place and Border Patrol had 807,000 viewers.
The ABC’s Upstairs Downstairs had 743,000 viewers and rounded of the top 10 most watched programs.
News was the greatest audience magnet with news offerings taking the top two spots and four slots in the top 10.
Nine News was the most popular with an audience of 1.147 million followed by Seven News with 1.138 million.
ABC News was ranked sixth with 811,000 viewers while the ABC News Update had an audience of 777,000.
Ten News at Five, Ten’s best-performing program last night, came 12th and had 672,000 viewers.
Seven won Sunday overall with a total 28.5% share and was followed closely by Nine with 24.9%.
Ten followed with a share of 20% as the ABC took 18% and SBS claimed 8.7%.
