Repco has given a pair of unsuspecting tourists a rip-roaring ride up Mount Panorama in the latest extension of its ‘Bringin’ The Bathurst’ campaign.
On the tour, the holidaymakers get a run through Bathurst history, from the remains of Dick Johnson’s ’83 XE Falcon strewn in the trees to the spot where Greg Murphy and Marcos Ambrose 20 had their infamous bust-up during the 2005 Bathurst 1000.
In a surprise twist, Repco and Thinkerbell reunited the pair for the ad.
Mitch Wiley, executive GM of marketing at Repco commented, “The Bathurst 1000 has such an enormous legacy and we wanted to celebrate it in a way that was both high octane, and full of nuggets for the fans. Our Bathurst work takes it to the limit every year and this time we’re proud to say we’ve left it all on the track.”
Ben Couzens, executive creative tinker at Thinkerbell added, “Bathurst is iconic for a reason. Hundreds of reasons in fact. And Bathurst Bus Tours is our way to pay homage to those iconic moments of Australian racing folklore, all while keeping our foot to the floor where it should be.”
Repco will be ‘Bringin’ the Bathurst’ running up to and throughout The Great Race in October, at the track, on TV, OOH, Digital, Print and Social, alongside plenty of surprises and treats for fans along the journey.
Keep your eyes peeled for the bus around the event (you’ll definitely hear it coming) and in the broadcast. And if you do get to experience it for yourself, remember to buckle up, hold on and always thank the driver.
