Qantas today announced an integrated content and advertising partnership for its inflight entertainment services with Foxtel, Sky News, Fox Sports and Multi Channel Network (MCN).

The deal will see new and improved content offerings for Qantas customers, with Sky News as the exclusive supplier for inflight news and Foxtel and Fox Sports as content partners.  Advertising sales will be represented exclusively by MCN for all Qantas inflight video, both domestically and overseas. The partnership commences 1 November 2014.

CEO of MCN Anthony Fitzgerald said the partnership will deliver a compelling multi-platform video solution for the Qantas screens, which will have great market appeal.

“MCN is delighted to be working with Qantas and our channel partners to strengthen the inflight opportunity for Qantas customers and advertisers,” he said. “We see enormous synergy between the premium media environment for Qantas audiences and the premium content offering of our channel partners Foxtel, Sky News and Fox Sports. We look forward to helping Qantas strengthen its video content and video ad sales in 2015.”

Under the new arrangements, Sky News will provide multiple news bulletins throughout the day on international and domestic flights and its new Australian news service Live to the network of Qantas lounges overseas. This allows Qantas customers to watch the latest news, sport and business updates from Australia on their way home.

Qantas will have access to the Foxtel library of premium local productions across lifestyle, drama, food and entertainment programming plus Fox Sports’ unrivalled sports coverage, which will drive a significant increase in viewing choices on-board.

Angelos Frangopoulos, Australian News Channel CEO, said: “Everyone at Sky News is proud that we’ve been selected by Qantas as the exclusive supplier of the inflight and lounge television news service. We’re excited about bringing Qantas customers a significantly enhanced and expanded service featuring news, commentary, business news and weather from across all the Sky News channels.”
