Media Room Tops Three Million Transcodes In Two Years Of Operation

Silver Trak’s Media Room smart media storage, management and delivery service has clocked over three million transcodes in just under two years of operation.

Media Room, which has evolved into a sophisticated custom transcode and workflow solution, will be demonstrated in its full capacity on the Aspera booth at NAB 2016 also currently manages and sits at the heart of over 500TB of storage within the Silver Trak ultra-fast fibre network.

Silver Trak MD Christian Christiansen said, “We have hit all of our key milestones and more in the last two years and the numbers are quite staggering. Over three million transcodes, 500TB of storage and a new 1PB storage system being rolled out in the very near future.

“Not to give the game away but all that and more will be demonstrated at NAB this year alongside another technology first – broadcast transcodes will available in Media Room prior to the show.”

Silver Trak’s Media Room smart media storage, management and delivery service is used by some of Australia’s largest free to air broadcasters, streaming companies and content providers including ABC TV, Netflix, Foxtel, Icon Film Distribution, Transmission Films and Entertainment One.

Media Room addresses the specific needs of any broadcaster, production house, post production house or distributor who has media assets they want to store, manage and deliver from the convenience of any web connected device.

In simple terms it gives the user 100 per cent control over their assets and the ability to use Silver Trak’s services such as QC, file storage or Aspera fasp high speed data transfers without paying any licence fees and without leaving the comfort of their seat.

Christiansen concluded, “Consider this a heads-up as we will be making several significant announcements ahead of and at NAB 2016. These include, new technology and new functionality for Media Room and several new and high profile users.”
