Domino’s Invites NRL Fans To Break Bread Ahead Of State Of Origin One
By

State of Origin is back for 2022, and while most fans will be divided by the bitter rivalry Domino’s has chosen to encourage peace with their latest campaign.

With the first game of the 2022 series coming up this Wednesday, Domino’s has invited fans from both Queensland and NSW to renounce their rivalries and embrace mateship instead, all in the name of free pizza.

Both Domino’s Toowong (Queensland) and Domino’s Five Dock (NSW) will be decorated in half blue and half maroon, and will be giving away free pizzas to the first 100 customers who arrive between 3pm and 5pm on Wednesday 8th June with a mate wearing the opposite jerseys.

Each pairing will receive a free pepperoni pizza (or simply cheese, if you’re more of a vegetarian fan) to break bread and share a slice with their friend/rival ahead of the match in the evening.

Domino’s ANZ CEO David Burness said that while rivalries tend to heat up during Origin, Domino’s is encouraging footy fans to set aside their differences.

“At Domino’s, we know that our pizza brings people closer. That is why our “Store of Two Sides” has been created, to bridge the gap between Maroons and Blues supporters,” said Burness.

“Maroons fan? Simply bring a mate who supports the Blues to either Domino’s Toowong or Domino’s Five Dock for your chance to score a free Pepperoni Pizza to share (or vice versa). And those who prefer a vegetarian option will be gifted a Simply Cheese instead!”

“To keep the spirit of unity alive, we’re encouraging customers to do the same; after all, state versus state doesn’t have to mean mate versus mate, especially when there is pizza involved!”

Customers are being encouraged to place their pizza orders ahead of the game to beat the rush, as pizza lovers and footy fans unite in preparation for the first of three State of Origin throwdowns.
