In very expensive news, Michael Jordan’s old and worn air-force Nikes have sold for a very healthy price of $1.5 million, breaking auction records.
The size thirteen kicks from 1984 were sold at a luxury sale in Las Vegas by auction house Sotheby’s and the resell value seems like a testament to both Nike and Michael Jordan, two huge entities that have global recognition.
The sneakers that sold for over a million, are high-tops that feature Nike’s iconic swoosh and have been cemented into pop culture, worn by everyone from athletes to pop singers.
Only last year a pair of Jordan’s old kicks sold for 615,000.

According to The Guardian, Jordan wore the infamous kicks during his first season with the Chicago Bulls, at the time he was also sponsored by Nike and has frequently collaborated with the brand over the years.
Jordan’s sneakers aren’t the fair pair of kicks to be resold for over a million. According, to CNBC, a pair of Kayne West’s Yeezys sold for over 1 million, in April. – the kicks were a prototype so one of the first-ever made in the air style.
Surely it says something about the times when sneakers have become more expensive and sought after than art. Why buy an original Banksy, when you can buy a pair of worn sneakers?
Naturally, Twitter also has some thoughts!
Hmm 1.47 millions for a pair of old sneaker or a painting from picasso or Monet in my living room? Jordan is a billionaire. Wonder if he secretly drive the price up.
