The Seven Network has welcomed the AFL’s 2025 Premiership Season fixture announcement, including more Thursday Night Footy and Sunday night marquee matches live and free on Seven and for the first time, 7plus Sport.
“The 2024 AFL Premiership Season marked a phenomenal year for our great game. Together with the AFL, we cannot wait to take the 2025 season to another level,” said Seven Network head of AFL and sport innovation, Gary O’Keeffe.
“The 2025 fixture is set to create unforgettable moments week after week, with more Thursday night games than ever before, the iconic Friday Night Footy including a Friday night Dreamtime blockbuster, marquee matches on Sunday nights and regular Sunday afternoon football programming, all live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport.
“Thursday Night Footy has become a beloved tradition in Aussie households and making it a regular feature is a testament to both the AFL and Seven’s commitment to listening to what footy fans want,” O’Keeffe said.
“In 2025, there will be AFL content to watch or stream on Seven and 7plus Sport every day of the week.
“From mid-week footy analysis headlined by new signings Kane Cornes and Nick Riewoldt alongside our existing group of AFL experts, to light-hearted footy content midweek, all before the first bounce on Thursday Night Footy, there has never been a more exciting time to be an AFL fan,” O’Keeffe said.
“For the first time in AFL history, Australians can stream every round of the footy live and free on 7plus Sport, and we’re beyond excited to bring fans this unprecedented access all season long,” said Seven Network director of sport, Chris Jones.
“7plus Sport has become the ultimate destination for live sport, and the 2025 AFL season takes it to the next level.
“This is a major leap forward in how fans can experience the game – free streaming means that no matter where Australians are, they can feel the roar of the crowd and the thrill of the game live on 7plus Sport,” he said.
“The seven day a week AFL offering will include The Front Bar’s regular AFL shows and cricket and year-in-review specials, along with a series of brand-new AFL offerings for Seven and 7plus Sport, giving footy fans access to fresh AFL content every single day.
“The AFL programs include The Agenda Setters, Unfiltered, Extra Time, Sunday Footy Feast, The Wash Up, Kane’s Call, podcasts and more,” Jones said.
“Footy content will be amplified on 7plus Sport, with replays, minis, highlights, video on demand, and unique exclusive content from the nightly magazine programs, which will be streamed live as well. 7plus Sport will again feature Club Hubs, encouraging AFL clubs to present their bespoke content specific to their fans. We will work to amplify that content, giving it national reach.
“At Seven, we’re thrilled to present another action-packed AFL season, and we congratulate the AFL led by Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Dillon, and Head of Broadcast Operations and Scheduling, Josh Bowler, on delivering another exceptional fixture for the fans,” Jones said.
