World’s Top 100 Most Valuable Brands Revealed: Three Aussies Make The Grade

Kantar Millward Brown’s annual list of the planet’s top 100 most valuable brands is in, and as expected the top billings all go to the global tech giants.

However, three Aussie firms managed to make this year’s prestigious list including the Commonwealth Bank at 60 (up four spots from 2016), ANZ Bank at 75 (up two spots) and Telstra coming in at number 88 (down from 78 last year).

The rankings are based on raw financial value in terms of revenue dollars with “brand contribution,” which entails a percentage that’s based on the “proportion of financial value generated by the brand’s ability to increase purchase volume and charge premium.”

Google once again took top spot, followed by Apple and Microsoft.

However, it was Amazon’s fourth placing that was probably the most dynamic mover on this year’s list. The online retailer, who’s heading Down Under, moved up from seventh spot last year, however, increased its band value in just 12 months by a staggering 41 per cent.
