Warner Bros. International Television Production has appointed David Harwood as director, legal and business affairs for Australia.
In this role, Harwood will provide strategic counsel across the company’s production slate and support its commercial operations, bringing over 15 years of legal experience across the media and sports sectors in Europe and Australia.
Most recently, Harwood served as interim general counsel at Australian Associated Press. Prior to that, he was Head of Legal and Business Affairs, Production at Seven Network, where he oversaw legal and commercial operations across Seven’s entire entertainment slate, including scripted drama, reality, factual, and lifestyle programming.
Harwood has also held senior legal positions at Rugby League World Cup 2017, Sky, Channel 4 and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
“I’m thrilled to be joining WBITVP Australia at such a dynamic time for the industry,” says Harwood. “I look forward to supporting a talented team in its creative ambitions and helping to navigate the evolving legal and commercial landscape.”
WBITVP Australia executive business director Rani Seckold said: “David brings a wealth of experience, a sharp legal mind, and deep commercial knowledge of content production, making him an invaluable addition to our leadership team. We’re thrilled to welcome him on board as we continue to deliver some of Australia’s favourite programming.”
Harwood takes over from Joshua Chan, who returns to the United Kingdom after seven years with WBITVP Australia. Chan played a pivotal role in shaping WBITVP Australia’s legal framework and supporting its growth across Australia and New Zealand. His broader tenure with WB spans more than 22 years, including senior legal roles in the London office.
Seckold added: “We extend our heartfelt thanks to JC for his outstanding contributions over the years. His leadership and dedication have left a lasting impact, and we wish him every success in his next chapter.”
