Last night, Aussies tuned into Nine‘s A Current Affair, detailing Aussie model Elle Macpherson’s revelation that she rejected chemotherapy and radiation in favour of a holistic approach to fight breast cancer. The health guru who helped Macpherson navigate the controversial journey is now under fire.
The episode raked in a Total TV National Reach of 1,466,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 1,007,000.
Macpherson’s heart-led, holistic approach to fight breast cancer was deemed dangerous by many medical professionals.
Sydney-raised nutritionist Simone Laubscher says she has helped a range of celebrities with her work. While not medically trained, she is under the microscope for claiming to be armed with a PhD “in cancer”.
Laubscher is Macpherson’s friend, nutritionist, naturopath, business partner and the brains behind popular supplements sold by the supermodel’s WelleCo company.
After her breast cancer diagnosis, the supermodel wrote Laubscher was one of the first people she contacted because she “had many patients with cancer”.
Macpherson also penned that Laubscher helped her “sort through various alternative and pharmaceutical treatment options”, adding that she was an angel and was relentless in assisting her in researching the most suitable modalities for her diagnosis.
Laubscher was approached by A Current Affair about substantiating her cancer claims, but she didn’t answer.
A Current Affair contacted three leading global naturopathy organisations which said Laubscher isn’t a member and they don’t recognise her degrees from the online college.
Two years ago the University of NSW demanded she stop saying she had a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nutrition and a PhD she was never awarded.
“No. Do you want to see my… I’ve actually got them signed off with a stat dec by my lawyer,” Laubscher said when asked by A Current Affair about her credentials.
Also on Nine, RBT showcased the stories and excuses from candid drivers up to no good on the roads.
RBT returned with new episodes in November, with the series narrated by Andrew Daddo.
Over on Seven, The Chase raked in a Total TV National Reach of 1,160,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 560,000.
Wheel of Fortune saw a Total TV National reach of 1,019,000 over on Channel 10.
