His new media venture, S4, may be flying but it appears Martin Sorrell’s private life is suffering as a consequence with news over the weekend the 75-year-old has split from his second wife, Cristiana Falcone, after 12 years of marriage.
Sorrell, whose personal wealth was estimated by the Sunday Times Rich List last year as being £368 million ($A723 million), married Falcone, 45, in 2008 and the couple have a young daughter born in 2016.
British media’s speculating that Falcone could be in line for as much as £110 million ($A216 million) pounds in any divorce settlement that would include the couple’s £25 million ($A49 million) London residence and a very expensive New York apartment.
The announcement comes two years after Sorrell resigned as CEO of WPP, following allegations of personal misconduct (which he has strenuously denied), including the claim that he spent £300 ($A590) of company money at a high-end London brothel in 2017.
Falcone, who is on the board of media conglomerate Viacom and previously worked at the World Economic Forum, is the second wife to seek a divorce, after Sorrell’s first wife, Sandra Finestone, was awarded a record £30 million ($A58 million) settlement back in 2005 after 33 years of marriage.
Sorrell has not publicly commented on the separation but over the weekend Falcone said in a statement: “From here on, my priority will be the interests of my daughter, and I request that the media respect my and my family’s privacy.”
