Australia has found the hero it needs in these dark COVID-19 times.
A Queensland backpacker has become an instant (dare we say viral?) social media sensation after telling a Channel Nine news crew he didn’t fear the government’s 14-day self-imposed isolation for international travellers as he’d just stay home and “lock myself in and punch some cones for a few days”.
Nine reporter Mackenzie Colahan was doing vox pops at Coolangatta Airport on the self-isolation when the unidentified man gave the frank admission.
The cameraman can then be heard saying that he’d use the footage because it was so funny, but the man’s female friend was less than impressed.
“Then it’ll become viral and we’ll have to stay inside,” she said.
The weed lovin’ backpacker wasn’t having it: “We’ll have to stay inside anyway.” Check out Queensland’s finest below:
