Persuasion star Dakota Johnson has been criticised by PETA for appearing in a Gucci advert where she is seen wearing handbags made out of python and crocodile skin.
Ina letter acquired by TMZ, the animal rights group tells Johnson that the “exotic-skin industry is extremely cruel” and that crocodiles killed for their skins are “often kept in filthy, crowded tanks”.
It added that “workers were caught on camera bashing reptiles on the head with machetes and hacking at their necks up to 14 times”.
It asked Johnson to “pledge” to stop wearing animal items and move to vegan alternatives instead.
The 33-year-old actress recently came out as an official ambassador for the luxury fashion brand, appearing in a commercial where she’s showing off a ton of their products including the reptile skin items.
