Network 10 Announces Latest Foray Into Breakfast Television

Network 10 has reluctantly announced – after the news leaking – that it will be bringing a new Morning Show to life.

This isn’t 10’s first foray into the breakfast world, of course there was the now canned ‘Breakfast‘ way back in 2012.  It sadly failed to crack the correct ratings numbers. But, 10’s now entering the breakfast show ring again.

According to Facebook, it's 9 years since Channel 10's famous "Breakfast" went off the air. I was the Melbourne corro. For the final show, we couldn't be bothered doing any real work, so we just did all the crosses from my flat. With a camera jib. And the washing. pic.twitter.com/jvRD26HPZX

This means Network 10 will be going head to head with Nine’s Today and Seven’s Sunrise. Shows that have made both Kochie, Lisa Wilkinson and Karl Stefanovic household names and let’s face it given Aussie tabloids a lot to write about.

Interestingly, 10’s new vehicle isn’t starting bright an early at the 6.30am mark but instead will be hitting the television screens at 8am.

The show won’t be in the same style as other traditional Morning Shows but rather a morning news bulletin. So don’t expect 10’s version of the Cash Cow to be dancing around.

While, no names have been announced B&T is desperately hoping either Narelda Jacobs, Hamish MacDonald or wild card Chrissie Swan hosts the new show.

A Network 10 spokesperson told B&T: “10 News First: Breakfast expands and strengthens 10’s commitment to News across the day. The addition of a morning news bulletin offers viewers a concise, 30-minute news update at the start of their day, and extends 10’s daily news offering.

“From 10 News First: Breakfast at 8am, through to 10 News First at 5pm, and all the news updates in between, 10 has you covered with the latest breaking news and up to date reports on local, national and international stories.”

Let the morning wars begin!
