Kyle & Jackie O Stumble In Sydney’s Brekkie Radio Ratings

KIIS 1065’s Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson have gone and undone all their hard work in the last radio ratings survey to end the year behind 702 ABC Sydney, while it’s a totally different story for the station’s drive team of Dave Hughes and Kate Langbroek.

We’ve finally reached the end of the ratings for 2016, so which hosts have given themselves an early Christmas present and which ones will be getting soap on a rope from their respective networks? Here’s a summary of the results from GfK’s Survey 8.

SYDNEY

Macquarie Radio Network’s 2GB unsurprisingly takes the cake in Sydney despite experiencing a 1.7 per cent drop in overall market share to 11.3 per cent. Australian Radio Network’s KIIS 1065 was down 0.1 per cent and 702 ABC Sydney remained steady to tie for second with 9.0 per cent market share each, while smoothfm finished third with 8.8 per cent market share – down 0.9 per cent from Survey 7.

Breakfast

First: 2GB’s The Alan Jones Breakfast Show (down 2.4 per cent to 14.5 per cent)

Second: 702 ABC Sydney (up 0.1 per cent to 10.8 per cent)

Third: KIIS 1065’s the Kyle & Jackie O show (down 0.3 per cent to 10.5 per cent)

Drive

First: KIIS 1065’s Hughesy & Kate (up 0.3 per cent to 9.5 per cent)

Second: 702 ABC Sydney (down 0.1 per cent to 9.4 per cent)

Third: 2GB’s Ben Fordham – Sydney Live (down 0.3 per cent to 9.2 per cent)

 

MELBOURNE

Macquarie’s 3AW increased its lead by 0.1 per cent for overall market share in the Melbourne market to 13.7 per cent, while the Hit Network’s Fox FM retained its second placing with a 0.5 per cent share increase to 10.6 per cent, and 774 ABC Melbourne finished third once again with 9.6 per cent (down 0.1 per cent).

Breakfast

First: 3AW’s Ross and John (up 1.1 per cent to 18.9 per cent)

Second: 774 ABC Melbourne (up 0.9 per cent to 13.2 per cent)

Third: FOX FM’s Fifi, Dave & Fev (up 0.9 per cent to 9.4 per cent)

Drive

First: FOX FM’s Hamish & Andy (up 1.5 per cent to 13.3 per cent)

Second: 3AW (down 2.1 per cent to 10.0 per cent)

Third: smoothfm (up 0.9 per cent to 8.2 per cent)

 

BRISBANE

After no change with the top three stations for overall market share in the last survey, 97.3fm’s share has increased by 1.5 per cent to 13.7 per cent to overtake NOVA 106.9, which was down 0.9 per cent to 12.6 per cent. Holding onto third spot was hit105 with 10.4 per cent (down 0.4 per cent).

Breakfast

First: 97.3fm (up 0.6 per cent to 13.1 per cent)

Second: NOVA 106.9’s Ash, Kip & Luttsy (down 0.4 per cent to 12.2 per cent)

Third: 612 ABC Brisbane (up 0.6 per cent to 11.9 per cent)

Drive

First: NOVA 106.9’s Kate, Tim & Marty (down 0.6 per cent to 15.7 per cent)

Second: hit105’s Hamish & Andy (down 0.2 per cent to 14.2 per cent)

Third: 97.3fm’s Hughesy & Kate (up 0.9 per cent to 13.4 per cent)

 

ADELAIDE

Mix 102.3 continues to bleed overall market share in Adelaide but remains in the lead with 12.9 per cent (down 1.1 per cent), followed again by 891 ABC Adelaide, with the station increasing its share by 0.5 per cent to 11.9 per cent. NOVA 91.9 has been bumped out of third spot by hit107, which grew its share by 0.5 per cent to 10.9 per cent.

Breakfast

First: 891 ABC Adelaide (up 0.2 per cent to 16.8 per cent)

Second: FIVEaa (up 0.7 per cent to 13.0 per cent)

Third: Mix 102.3’s Jodie & Soda (down 1.6 per cent to 11.2 per cent)

Drive

First: hit107’s Hamish & Andy (down 0.2 per cent to 13.2 per cent)

Second: NOVA’s Kate, Tim & Marty (down 1.3 per cent to 11.9 per cent)

Third: Triple M (up 0.4 per cent to 11.1 per cent)

 

PERTH

Mix 94.5 held on to the number one position for overall market share in Adelaide with 15.7 per cent (down 1.2 per cent), while NOVA 93.7 moved into second with 0.6 per cent share growth to 11.8 per cent, pushing hit92.9 down to third with 11.4 per cent (down 0.2 per cent).

Breakfast

First: 720 ABC Perth (up 1.3 per cent to 13.0 per cent)

Second: Mix 94.5’s Clairsy, Matt and Kymba (down 2.1 per cent to 12.5 per cent)

Third: NOVA 93.7’s Nathan, Nat & Shaun (up 0.4 per cent to 12.3 per cent)

Drive

First: Mix 94.5’s Lisa and Pete (down 1.8 per cent to 16.6 per cent)

Second: NOVA 93.7 (up 0.8 per cent to 13.7 per cent)

Third: hit92.9’s Hamish & Andy (down 0.7 per cent to 13.6 per cent)
