Former Bachelorette star Georgia Love, who recently left her role as a journalist at Seven to join the PR world, is now getting heat online for holidaying in Saudi Arabia.
This week, Love took to Instagram to share her trip to Saudi Arabia, the country currently governed by an autocratic regime.
Love wrote on her Instagram, “After only opening to tourists in 2019, we can’t state how excited we are to be among the first Aussies to tour Saudi.
“To us, it is important to see, experience and learn about all cultures around us and to see how much and how fast our world is changing. We can’t wait to bring you along on this incredible experience with us.”
However, Love was instantly met with backlash; after all, Amnesty International recently claimed that country performed a mass execution of 81 men on the 15th of March. Bascially, the holiday Love showcased on her Instagram is currently making headlines for human rights abuses.
Naturally, Twitter weighed in
Now the world is opening up again you might choose the Eiffel Tower, Edinburgh Castle or The Acropolis but Georgia Love is pushing Saudi Arabia. Sorry Georgia but ‘Chop Chop Square’ -where woman and gays are executed- just doesn’t do it for me in the same way. pic.twitter.com/pmRIJqB4dC

This is the country Georgia Love accepted a free trip to visit. Of the 81 you can be sure there is a disproportionate number of women, gays & possibly journalists. Did you really need a freebie trip that badly Georgia? https://t.co/ghqIyKD72s

Georgia Love has deleted everything about her lovely trip to Saudi Arabia from Instagram.
Can’t imagine why.
I’d get out of there real quick.
Not playing by the rules (especially as a woman) can result in a visit to Chop Chop Square!

Georgia Love and her partner Lee, in their since deleted stories theyve tagged all the people in their travelling group- who coincidently are all influencers. And coincidently all these people all posting influencer heavy Saudi content – hastagged and tagged orgs to nauseam. pic.twitter.com/Yn6h2IliEC

Love has since deleted her posts.
Interestingly, in now-deleted comments, Love claimed she wasn’t being paid to take the trip but it seems she was travelling with a group of influencers, which is interesting.
Perhaps Love’s knowledge in PR will help her recover from this social media onslaught.
