Southern Cross Media Group has rehired former Seven West Media ‘s TV lead Angus Ross to head up television and streaming from July.
Ross, a long-serving Seven executive of 27 years, will be responsible for all television and streaming content teams, covering news, sport and entertainment across Seven and 7plus.
He rejoins after being made redundant in March alongside other TV executives under the previous chair Heith Mackay-Cruise, who will step down at the end of June.
Ross’ reappointent indicates a shift in internal power dynamic under new SCA managing director and CEO Rohan Lund, a former Seven TV executive.
“Angus is without doubt one of the most consistently successful media executives in Australia and the Board and management are very pleased he has agreed to return in this new, expanded role,” he said.
“As we continue with the integration of Seven and Southern Cross Austereo, we now have three world-class executives running our three divisions – Angus in television and streaming, John Kelly as managing director, audio, and Maryna Fewster as CEO of Seven West Media WA – with digital at the core of each division’s focus and strategy.
“Angus took Seven to the top and, personally, I’m looking forward to working again with him as we build on the success of Seven and 7plus.”
Ross has more than two decades of senior leadership across Australian broadcast and streaming, spanning entertainment and sport content strategy, commissioning, acquisitions, scheduling and marketing at scale.
He served as chief content office of entertainment between 2017 and 2024 before being elevated to head up television in 2024.
He played a leadership role in Seven’s digital transformation, including championing a ‘7plus First’ strategy for international acquisitions and the expansion of exclusive content designed to grow audiences on 7plus.
