Seven dominated Thursday night’s ratings, with AFL coverage driving the biggest numbers of the evening, whilst Nine’s NRL coverage landed in seventh.
Thursday Night Football was the standout program of the night, pulling a national reach of 1,738,000 and an average audience of 630,000, landing the broadcast in third.
Hawthorn produced a comeback win over Adelaide, with Blake Hardwick the unlikely hero. Adelaide started as the stronger side, with Callum Ah Chee scoring a goal just 16 seconds into the game.
Ultimately, Hawthorn took home the win with help from Nick Watson coming off the bench to kick two goals and rack up 11 score involvements before a head knock took him out of the game.
Tipping Point Australia was again one of the more reliable performers for Nine. It landed fourth with a national reach of 1,488,000 and an average audience of 781,000.
The Chase Australia rounded out another solid night for Seven’s game show slate. It had a national reach of 1,364,000 and an average audience of 716,000 to land sixth.
Nine’s Thursday Night NRL Live coverage drew a national reach of 1,342,000 and an average audience of 575,000, coming in seventh.
The Dolphins pulled off a historic 30-22 win over the Canberra Raiders at GIO Stadium, the club’s fourth consecutive victory for the first time since their inception.
ABC’s Restoration Australia drew a national reach of 779,000 and an average audience of 445,000, landing 12th overall. The heritage renovation documentary, hosted by architecture professor Anthony Burke, has found a loyal audience on the national broadcaster. It follows homeowners as they rescue and restore historically significant buildings across the country.
