Akcelo has been appointed social media agency of record for Virgin Australia and Velocity Frequent Flyer following a competitive pitch.
Under the appointment, Akcelo will work across both the Virgin Australia and Velocity Frequent Flyer teams to elevate the impact of social through social-first creative and content production, along with being a strategic partner in how social is embedded throughout the multi-faceted business.
The renewed focus on the brands’ social presence will ensure its ‘Wonderful’ proposition is pulled through the line and deepens relationships with existing and new fans. Akcelo will be tasked with unlocking deeper levels of consumer connection that correlate to business impact.
“We’re incredibly excited to partner with Virgin Australia and Velocity Frequent Flyer at a time when social plays such a critical role in how brands connect with their audiences and fans. This is about building a more connected, responsive and engaging social presence that reflects the energy of the brand and the expectations of today’s traveller,” said Akcelo founder and chief executive Aden Hepburn.
“Social is a key channel for how we connect with our customers day to day, and we were looking for a partner who could help us evolve our approach across both Virgin Australia and Velocity Frequent Flyer. Akcelo stood out for their strategic thinking and creative ambition, and their ability to connect brand, content and community in a way that feels relevant and engaging,” said Virgin Australia chief marketing officer Libby Minogue.
The partnership comes as Virgin Australia continues to invest in building deeper customer connections across digital and social platforms.
Virgin Australia’s addition to the Akcelo client roster is the latest in a period of growth for the agency’s social practice. It follows a wave of new business wins over the past six months including a wider remit across PepsiCo.
