A TV presenter has felt the full fury of England’s World Cup semi-final exit after he was attacked by a fan during a live cross during yesterday’s game.
New Zealand’s Newshub correspondent Lloyd Burr was reporting for the network’s The AM Show from a London pub during the dying moments of the England-Croatia match (won by Croatia 2-1) when he was set upon by the livid supporter who appeared to have had one too many.
Acknowledging he had “a very angry England fan” trying to interfere with his live cross, Burr first wore the drunk gentleman’s pint of beer before copping an absolute tongue lashing from the cranky chap.
For his part, Burr handled himself with absolute aplomb, however, may have mistaken his attacker’s accent, Burr later tweeting: “Apart from the beer in the face (by a drunken Aussie), it was an epic atmosphere to watch a great game.”
