All eyes were on game shows overnight, with viewers switching to Seven and Nine to watch The 1% Club and The Floor. Taking out the crown for the most watched entertainment program of Sunday night was Seven however.
More than 1.7 million people tuned into the broadcaster’s 1% Club, with 852,000 staying present throughout the show. For those not familiar with the game show, 100 contestants compete for $100,000 in a last man standing style competition. The questions start easy, with them getting progressively harder until the players reach the 1% question. This is a question where only one per cent of Australia’s population can answer. Whoever is left standing and gets the last question right, takes home the $100k
Hosted by stand-up comedian Jim Jefferies, the show is also full of laughs.
The fourth episode of the season just edged out Nine’s The Floor which raked in a total TV reach of 1,589,000 and a total TV national average audience of 825,000—helping the show take out the fourth most watched program of the night.
Both game shows outperformed the AFL and the NRL.
A reach of 1,350,000 and an average audience of 493,000 watched Seven’s coverage of the Sydney Swans and the Melbourne Demons. In the match played in the harbour city, the Swans extended its winning streak to five and bolstered its 2026 record to seven wins with only one loss being registered throughout the year.
Similar to the gameshow stakes, Seven also edged out Nine in the sports category. Nine’s NRL broadcast between the Wests Tigers and the Cronulla Sharks pulled in 1,128,000 viewers, with 457,000 sticking around.
In the match, the Sharks battered the Tigers 52 points to 10. And for our NRL tragics you would know that this means the Tigers can no longer win the comp. For those of you less familiar with the egg shaped code, no team has ever gone on to win the comp the same year it conceded 50 points in a single match.
Over on Network 10, Masterchef cooked up 10th spot on the list with its 1.1 million viewers.
On Saturday, in the lead up to Star Wars Day (4 May), May the Fourth be with you, Nine broadcasted Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope to its viewers. This was a masterstroke, with Nine taking out the most watched entertainment program of the night.
And on Friday, with no game shows in sight, the AFL and the NRL were the most popular entertainment programs.
