Seven’s The Voice launch has edged past Nine’s The Block on the launch night of two of Australian TV’s most popular programs.
Tones And I joined Seven’s singing contest as a ‘secret’ fifth coach that allows selected artists a second chance.
This provided another crack for busker and youth worker Red Roy, who will now work with the artists before being returned to the four main coaches Melanie C, Ronan Keating, Richard Marx and Kate Miller-Heidke.
The show attracted 2.44 million viewers with an average audience of 1.1 million.
On Nine, The Block launched its first coastal build at Mount Eliza on the Mornington Peninsula, reaching 2.2 million viewers and an average audience of 1.1 million.
Seven won Sunday night with a national audience share of 52.3 per cent.
This was due to strong performances from The Voice, Farmers Wants A Wife Reunion (reach: 1.67 million, average: 988,000) and late session of the Commonwealth Games (1.46 million, 391,000).
The Commonwealth Games, which ended early Monday morning, proved ratings gold for Seven across the weekend.
