Last night, the Optus outage was still high on Aussies’ minds. Nine‘s A Current Affair detailed the harrowing moment when Doug Costello and his family tried desperately to call triple zero when his father-in-law, Stephen, suffered a stroke.
Seven‘s AFL Brownlow Medal won the Ratings, bringing in a Total TV National Reach of 3,104,000. The swanky Melbourne ceremony saw audience members visibly stunned after AFL CEO Andrew Dillon read out the results.
Controversy reigned about how the Medal is decided after a vote count for this year’s Medal.
The results saw the young Saints star given just two votes instead of the expected three, which was met with audible opposition from the crowd.
Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera’s individual performance during St Kilda’s round 20 win over Melbourne was considered at the time as the greatest of the season.
Wanganeen-Milera managed a polite smile, though he was clearly rendered uncomfortable. Others around the room, including Max Gawn and Christian Petracca on the Melbourne table, laughed incredulously at the decision to give their teammate Jack Viney three votes instead.
A Current Affair brought in a Total TV National Reach of 1,789,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 1,103,000 for Nine.
Stephen is currently in the hospital, with the family still waiting for answers from the telco and chief executive Stephen Rue.
“You’ve already got the pressure of someone that’s suffering, someone that you love, and you can’t help them,” Doug told A Current Affair.
“It was very stressful”.
The family is waiting for an apology or any communication from Optus following the outage.
Also on Nine, The Block saw a Total TV National Reach of 2,146,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 1,187,000.
Tension is brewing between Robby and Mat and Ben and Emma, after the latter’s plans to build a rival wine cellar.
Having pocketed a whopping $80,000 last week, Emm and Ben were riding high.
While they were whisked away in a helicopter for a luxury night in the foothills of the Grampians, Robby and Mat told the remaining teams they planned to call a body corporate meeting to demand Ben and Emma open up their books before beginning their build. Robby and Mat had been made to detail their financial situation when word got out about their OG cellar, so now, the tables have turned.
In another twist, Han and Can learned their sacked builder Ben had returned to The Block to work for Sonny and Alicia, and they were not happy.
“I’m a bit shocked about that after the way that he spoke to me,” Han said.
Asked to be more specific about what had gone down, Han offered: “The texts that he sent after we sent him some lovely texts were quite gross, actually. It’s highly upsetting. To m,e it’s extremely brave-faced to show up after talking to someone like that”.
Offered the opportunity to share these messages, Han declined.
“I don’t want to even revisit it,” she said. “I have grieved it. I am done with it”.
Denying any sort of hostile text interaction, Ben said, “That’s all news to me. About a week ago, I got a long-winded text from Hannah saying she felt really bad about how things had gone down and that they missed me, and that they would love me to come back, and I was very amicable in the way I replied”.
After showing the texts to production, Ben admitted he had called their new builder Shannon a “wanker” but claimed he’s never badmouthed Han or Can.
Seven‘s Home and Away raked in a Total TV National Reach of 1,359,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 837,000.
Over on Channel 10, Have You Been Paying Attention? brought in a Total TV National Reach of 1,060,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 609,000.
