It appears Seven has lost its battle against Fox Sports to claim the signature of Shane Warne, as both broadcasters look to differentiate their cricket broadcast offerings.
A number of media outlets have reported that Fox Sports is expected to confirm a deal with King of Spin later this week, following speculation the pay TV player was up against Seven in vying for Warne’s signature.
Both broadcasters have been busy building their cricket commentary ranks of late after securing the broadcast rights last month.
Seven has appointed Dave Barnham as head of cricket and snared ex-Big Bash League commentator Ricky Ponting, while Fox Sports has made six signings for its commentary team, including Mark Waugh and Adam Gilchrist.
