PUSH Collective has been appointed as the lead agency to create the logo for the AFL’s inaugural national Women’s League, and develop and deliver a reinvigorated brand strategy and identity for the Australian Catholic University (ACU).
The appointments both arrive off the back of competitive pitches.
PUSH will create the brand identity for the AFL Women’s League ahead of its first year of competition in 2017. Led by PUSH’s executive creative director and founding partner, Ken Shadbolt, the logo of the Women’s League will be vital to reflecting the pioneering and ambitious goals of the competition.
“The national AFL Women’s League is a major step forward for a game that is steeped in Australian history and culture,” said Shadbolt.
“We are looking forward to working on such an exciting project and helping the Women’s League continue to propel elite women’s sport in Australia.”
PUSH will be also be charged with strengthening and evolving ACU’s brand strategy in Australia and overseas, as well as undertaking extensive brand research and design for the University.
This is the second major Australian university to appoint PUSH as its lead brand agency in the past few years, with PUSH behind Macquarie University’s brand evolution in 2014-15.
“ACU occupies a unique position among Australian universities. ACU engages the Catholic intellectual tradition to bring a distinct perspective to higher education, whilst also recognising its role as a publicly funded institution,” said Erminio Putignano, managing director and founding partner of PUSH.
“The project will require us to elaborate important considerations on what being a Catholic university means in today’s society. We look forward to addressing this opportunity and helping the University become a more prominent player both in Australia and internationally.”
