Monday TV Wrap: ABC’s Night Of Current Affairs Gives 7, 9 & 10 The Willies

Ably led by its flagship current affairs program, Four Corners and its report into the NBN, the ABC posted some impressive numbers last night.

In fact, when it came to just primary channels – sans the secondary ones – the ABC actually came second behind Nine according to overnight OzTam figures.

However, once the catch-ups were included, Nine won the night with 28.5 per cent, then Seven with 25 per cent, the ABC had 21.1 per cent, Ten managed 18.4 per cent and the SBS had seven per cent.

Once again, Nine’s The Block was the most watched show of the night with 1.17 million reno fans tuning in. ACA had 870,000 for Nine, followed by Law & Order True Crime with 531,000, Hot Seat had 492,000 and Chicago Justice pulled 237,000.

The ABC’s night went thus: Four Corners (774,000), 7pm news (704,000), Media Watch (667,000), 7:30 (634,000), Australian Story (619,000). Even Q&A’s gay marriage debate had the controversial show roar back to an impressive 617,000.

Seven won the battle of the 6pm news bulletins beating Nine one million to 946,000. The Chase (590,000), The Grand Tour (487,000), Manhunt (243,000) and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders (147,000) was the order of Seven’s evening.

Ten’s best was Have You Been Paying Attention? with 782,000 and The Project with 566,000. While at the SBS, The World’s Most Extraordinary People mustered 203,000.
