Messi And Ronaldo Bury The Hatchet For Louis Vuitton

Soccer superstars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have seemingly ended their long-running feud, featuring in a new campaign for Louis Vuitton.

The campaign, shot by legendary American portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz, features the pair playing a game of chess on top of a Louis Vuitton trunk case.

The moody image has Messi and Ronaldo clad all in black with with dramatic lighting shadowing the scene.

Both players have posted the image on Instagram, where it has received a whopping 57 million views and counting.

It’s the first time that the pair have appeared in an advert together — with the Portuguese and Argentinian stars often appearing in rival ads for Nike and Adidas, respectively.

Chess.com notes that the chess pieces are not randomly placed, either. Instead, it recreates a pivotal moment in a 2017 match between Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura. the match ended in a draw.

A behind-the-scenes video shows that the pair were not even in the same room when the images were captured.
