Tipping Point host Todd Woodbridge

Nine turned its 70th anniversary into a battle of TV royalty, with familiar faces from Getaway, Sale of the Century and McLeod’s Daughters going head-to-head on Tipping Point for charity.

The special, Tipping Point: 70 Years of TV, saw host Todd Woodbridge welcome Catriona Rowntree and Jules Lund, Nicky Buckley and Glenn Ridge, and McLeod’s Daughters stars Lisa Chappell and Bridie Carter for a nostalgia-fuelled showdown, with the three duos playing for a share of $40,000 for their chosen charities.

The reunion special came in third with a Total TV National Reach of 1,726,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 756,000.

The nostalgia continued with Nine’s John Farnham – Celebrating 60 Years, which revisited the singer’s six-decade career through archival performances, interviews and never-before-seen footage.

The special drew on early performances from Brian Henderson’s Bandstand and The Don Lane Show, as well as Farnham’s performance for Queen Elizabeth at the Sydney Opera House. Kylie Minogue, Ray Martin, Richard Wilkins and General Sir Peter Cosgrove were among those reflecting on Farnham’s career.

The special came in fourth with a national reach1,579,000 and an average audience of 630,000.

Over on Seven, The Chase Australia continued its usual quiz-show battle, with contestants once again attempting to stay ahead of the Chaser. The Larry Emdur-hosted game show had a antional reach of 1,299,000 and an average audience of 624,000.

ABC’s Back Roads took viewers to Victoria’s Spa Country, where guest presenter Joe O’Brien explored what is bubbling away beneath the region as a destination for healing and tourism.

The episode had a national reach of 705,000 and an average audience of 433,000.

Ten’s The Dog House also made its mark, with the emotional rescue series continuing to follow dogs in need of homes as they meet potential adopters. The repeat episode had a national reach of 636,000 and an average audience of 302,000.
