But before walking away with a prestigious gong, entrants will have to impress a very impressive list of judges that include: Toby Duffin (MCN’s head of sport), Jeremy Francis (Virgin Australia’s manager, brand connections), John Webb (ESPN’s marketing manager), Christopher Hopper (Daily Telegraph’s sports editor), Sam Squiers (Channel 9 sports presenter), Guy Dobson (SCA’s chief content officer), Basil Scaffidi (SEL Sports and Entertainment’s MD), Jennifer Coleman (Foxtel’s sponsorship manager) and Jess Cook (Sydney Swan’s senior manager corporate partnerships and marketing).
David Hovenden, B&T’s editor in chief, said: “We Aussies love our sport. We’re often world leaders. And that’s true of the marketing efforts that go on behind the scenes, and not just for big ticket sports like AFL or cricket.
“The Ministry of Sports Marketing Awards is rightful recognition of local marketers doing exceptional things in the sport arena and I urge anyone with the creative nous and runs on the board to enter themselves or an exceptional colleague.
“We’ve got a great day’s conference planned with world-class speakers and the Awards, I believe, are the right way to end, what’s certain to be, a fun, informative and useful day.”
