After Australia claimed the first Test, and as an official partner of Cricket Australia, KFC has decided to offer the Poms a bit of light relief for a rather persistent issue. Introducing ‘Whinge Wipes’, limited-edition Refresher Towels that were created to play on the friendly rivalry between the two countries and come with simple instructions: “Gently wipe face to remove salty English tears.”
Packaged in classic KFC red and white, they’re infused with tear-mopping technology and good humour, reminding everyone that this series is built on great cricket and good ol’ fashion banter.
The Whinge Wipes will be handed out at the Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney Tests, with fans at the Adelaide Test also able to swing by the KFC Food Truck for a free Go Bucket. Also arriving is KFC’s summer merch drop, with all profits going to the KFC Youth Foundation.
That’s not all, KFC has made a late substitution on its logo, benching the Colonel and introducing Travis Bucket-Head.
After his first test heroics, Travis Bucket-Head will take over in-stadium visuals, ensuring our main man is providing a cheeky reminder of who ruined the Poms first week in the country. Fans at the Gabba can also score a limited run of KFC ‘Travis Bucket-Heads’ to wear, with the Colonel being replaced with, you guessed it, Travis Head.
