Advertising trailblazer, futurist and founder of The 7th Tribe Jane Evans is set to speak at Cairns Crocodiles, presented by Pinterest this May, bringing one of the industry’s most fearless and influential voices to the festival.
Jetting in from the UK, Evans will appear in two sessions across the event, sharing insights from a career that has repeatedly reshaped culture and commerce.
Her groundbreaking work includes creating the first advertisement to show a divorced couple, the first to depict a couple living together, and one of the first to show men doing housework(and doing it well). She also launched Australia’s first craft beer brand, James Squire, and created the iconic Tim Tam Genie campaign — still running in various guises more than 30 years later.
“Jane Evans is a true industry pioneer and a B&T Lifetime Achievement Award winner, so we feel incredibly lucky to have her back on Aussie turf,” said Pippa Chambers, content director of Cairns Crocodiles.
“From reshaping advertising to sparking Australia’s craft beer revolution, her impact on culture and creativity is extraordinary.”
Evans will take the stage on day one, Tuesday May 12th, with “What’s A Sheila Got To Do To Get a Beer Around Here? … Invent It.”
Flying in from London, Evans will revisit the bold thinking behind the launch of James Squire, the brand that helped spark Australia’s craft beer revolution.

Fittingly, the session will take place inside Hemingway’s Presented by News Australia, Cairns Crocodiles’ popular content track hosted within the working brewery itself. The session will be followed by a Q&A hosted by Leah Morris, founder of Mavens, Co-Host of the Mind Your Manners podcast and ACD at R/GA.
On day two, Wednesday 13th May, Evans will join Five by Five Global CMO Matt Lawton for a provocative discussion titled “Humans vs The Algorithm: Who’s Really Winning?”
Drawing on experiments conducted alongside Cindy Gallop and an international cohort of women and male allies, the session will unpack evidence of an alleged “proxy bias” shaping who gets seen and heard on professional platforms — and what can be done to push for fairness in the feed.
Cairns Crocodiles Presented by Pinterest runs from May 12 to 14, bringing together some of the most influential voices across marketing, media, creativity and culture for three days of bold conversations and industry-shaping ideas. Get your tickets HERE now!
