HubSpot has promoted Megan Hughes to managing director and vice president of sales for the Japan, Asia Pacific, and India (JAPAC) region. Hughes steps into this expanded role from her previous position as ANZ country lead and senior director of sales.
In her new role, Hughes will oversee HubSpot’s business growth, sales strategy, and operations across JAPAC, including key markets like Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and India. She will partner with HubSpot’s regional leadership to empower 28,000 scaling businesses in the region to grow better.
Hughes brings more than 25 years of technology sector experience to the role, including four years of proven leadership within HubSpot’s ANZ market, where she built high-performing teams that consistently exceeded revenue targets. In Australia, Hughes was instrumental in initiatives that strengthened HubSpot’s local presence, including the launch of its first local data centre and the official major partnership with the TCS Sydney Marathon. Under Hughes’ leadership, HubSpot has supported thousands of customers including market leaders such as WIRES, MYOB and LJ Hooker.
Prior to joining HubSpot, Hughes’ career journey includes several regional leadership positions at enterprise technology organisations such as Hootsuite and LogMeIn, where she led sales and marketing functions. Her deep understanding of the unique challenges facing businesses in the region—from navigating complex regulatory environments to scaling operations across diverse markets—is sharpened by four years of successful execution and strategic leadership within HubSpot. This experience positions her to drive HubSpot’s strategy forward in JAPAC.
“Over the past four years, Megan has transformed our ANZ business, building a customer-first culture where teams deliver real impact. Her proven track record and commitment to our cultural values make her the ideal leader to drive our growth plans across the entire JAPAC region,” said David Cohen, chief sales officer, HubSpot.
The appointment comes at a critical time for businesses in the region. According to recent HubSpot research, Australian businesses with advanced AI adoption are four times more likely to report significant growth. Yet only 12 per cent of Australian businesses have adopted AI at an advanced level. As part of her role, Hughes will help businesses to close this gap by empowering them to leverage HubSpot’s AI-powered tools—embedded directly into the platform—to accelerate adoption and deliver value faster, without the typical learning curve of new technology.
Cohen added, “The global CRM industry is on track to exceed USD163 billion by 2030, with Asia Pacific forecasted to be the fastest growing market worldwide. Megan will play a pivotal role for our 28,000 customers in JAPAC to grow better by transforming how front-office teams market, sell, and support through HubSpot’s AI-powered customer platform. JAPAC is a vital market for HubSpot, and I look forward to working closely with Megan to accelerate our regional momentum.”
“I’m thrilled to step into the role of managing director and vice president of sales for JAPAC to continue building on the incredible momentum our team has created,” commented Hughes, on her promotion.
“Over the past four years growing HubSpot’s presence across ANZ, I’ve been continually inspired by the talent, collaboration, and customer focus across our region. As we look ahead, my priority is to keep strengthening the foundations that drive our success: putting our customers first, leading by example, and always learning. JAPAC is at such an exciting inflection point, and I’m honoured to lead this next chapter of growth as we help more scaling companies across Japan, Asia Pacific, and India achieve their ambitions.”
Hughes is based in Sydney and begins her new role immediately, working closely with HubSpot’s global leadership team to execute the company’s strategic vision across the JAPAC region.
