Fur Media has appointed former Tickford Racing general manager of commercial and sales, Richard Marks, as its new Victorian sales director.
In the newly created role, Marks will be responsible for developing the commercial side of the business, building relationships with media agencies and brands across Australia and developing new advertising and partnership opportunities across the Fur Media network.
Based in Melbourne, Marks will work closely with Fur Media’s senior executive team, including co-founders Nic Cann and Michael Ryan, chief technology officer, Corey Dawson, and sales director, Saskia Parton, on larger national partnerships and commercial strategies.
The appointment comes as Fur Media continues to rapidly expand its digital out-of-home network. Over the past 18 months, the business has grown to more than 300 high-traffic veterinary reception screens across Australia, with advertising partnerships with major deals with some of the country’s most trusted pet brands, including Elanco, Mars Petcare and Royal Canine.
Marks brings extensive senior commercial experience to Fur Media, most recently as general manager for commercial and sales at Tickford Racing. Prior to this, Marks was the group manager at Scentre Group, and the sales director for Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia at Val Morgan Outdoor.
“Richard’s appointment is a new senior commercial position for Fur Media and it reflects the scale of the business we’re growing. We’ve rapidly expanded into a unique, national media network, and with that, comes the need to bring greater senior commercial capability into our team,” said Fur Media co-founder Nic Cann.
“Richard is the right person for the role. He brings extensive media experience, strong relationships with major Australian and international brands, and importantly, a track record in retail and out-of-home environments. Richard’s experience, relationships, and commercial leadership will be a real asset as we take the business into its next phase.”
“I’m excited to be joining Fur Media and reconnecting with many of my former colleagues from our successful Active Media Group and Val Morgan Outdoor years. There’s a significant opportunity to build on the momentum the business has already created, both with endemic pet brands and with a much broader range of advertisers that want to engage this valuable audience,” said Marks.
“I’m also excited by the longer-term potential of the business and its technology. There’s a lot we can build from the platform that’s already in place, and I’m looking forward to working with Nic, Michael, Saskia, Corey and the broader team on that next phase of growth.”
