Fox Sports has hired Steve Crawley (pictured below), the current NRL boss at Channel Nine, to head up its newly created Live Sports division.
Steve Crawley will join Fox on the 1st of May with the remit of focussing on Fox’s new five-year, $1 billion deal with the league. Gary Burns, who has been with the company for four years, will take on the new position of head of sports entertainment shows. Both roles are national, reporting directly to Fox Sports’ CEO Patrick Delany.
Nine has confirmed that 60 Minutes executive producer, Tom Malone, will replace Crawley while 60 Minutes’ chief of staff, Kirsty Thomson, has been promoted to take over from Malone.
Patrick Delany said of the appointments: “This puts in place a very strong team to take us into 2016 and beyond, with two of the best sports producers in the country working side by side. Having recently secured the biggest NRL rights in history and a new channel planned for 2017, we look forward to having Steve and his expertise on the team.”
