easyJet Creates Buzzing Sneakers To Keep You On Track When Travelling

UK-based regional airline easyJet has launched a new initiative designed to keep your eyes up and your mind alert when wandering the streets of a new neighbourhood.

Rather than stare at your phone – potentially missing the wondrous sights of a destination – the shoes are fitted with an internet-connected device that connects to Google Maps via Bluetooth, and easyJet’s proprietary app, to guide wearers through cities.

Buzzing under the left or right foot depending on which way you need to turn, the sneakers have been given a test run in Barcelona. They also buzz twice if you’ve taken a wrong turn, re-route if you veer off course unintentionally, and buzz continuously once you reach your destination.

easyJet hasn’t yet revealed when these sneakers will be available, according to reports from PFSK, meaning for now it’s just another item on the travel wishlist.

But according to an opinion post, wearable tech might well be considered daggy nowadays, so maybe it’s a good thing they’re not on the market just yet. That shade of orange doesn’t exactly do much to counteract the ‘dag’ factor.
