Of all the things COVID has kyboshed this year – travel aside – arguably dating has been one of its biggest victims.
Now dating app Bumble has decided to have a little fun with the concept, enlisting acclaimed actor Helena Bonham Carter to front a witty new campaign aimed at the lovelorn.
The spot’s the work of London agency The Brooklyn Brothers and sees the Academy Award-nominated and Bafta-winning Bonham Carter narrate the tribulations of a young woman attempting to date during COVID.
The spot launches today and will run in the UK and Ireland on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.

Commenting on the work, The Brooklyn Brothers’ creative director Cali Oliver said: “There’s this real sense of time being lost this year that’s been coupled with a specific set of pressures that come up at Christmastime.
“There was an opportunity to do something that showed we understood – something that feels as if it’s for women, by women – and to celebrate this imperfect dating journey that so many people have been on. In showing that truth in a relatable way, you can be encouraging, optimistic and looking forward.”
