Channel Seven To Stream 2100 Hours Of Tennis This Summer

The Seven West-owned Channel Seven has announced it will live stream all the major Aussie tennis tournaments this coming summer including the Australian Open, Hopman Cup, The Brisbane International, Kooyong Classic and the Sydney International.

It’s estimated fans will get some 2100 hours of tennis coverage streamed to mobiles and other devices.

The Network also has the rights to the 2016 Rio Olympics and its tennis experiement will no doubt be a precursor to what fans can expect when the Games begin in early August.

Seven’s Summer Of Tennis has always been a huge rating winner for the Network, namely due to the traditionally quiet month of January. It also uses the coverage to heavily promote its pending array of new programs for the coming year

Speaking to Fairfax Media, Seven’s chief digital officer Clive Dickens said in January this year 1.2 million users streamed Seven’s coverage across the month. There were 4.4 million streams, 80 per cent were live and 70 per cent were to mobiles or tablets.

“We will significantly beat that. We’ve learnt from that and made it easier for people to access the streams this year,” Mr Dickens said. “A year in digital is a long time.”
