Bauer Hands Over Outdoor Magazine To Adventures

Adventures Group Holdings has announced it will take over publishing Outdoor magazine from Bauer Media, after the two companies agreed to terms this week.

Outdoor is an adventure magazine featuring human-powered experiences such as hiking and paddling, road trips and iconic destinations, as well as an array of technical features and how-to guides.

Published for the past eight years by Bauer Media under the Australian Geographic Outdoor brand, Outdoor will return to its original masthead in July under Adventures, coinciding with the launch of its own standalone website to be hosted at www.outdooraustralia.com.

Adventures is a newly-formed content and marketing business servicing the Australian tourism sector, with a particular focus on domestic self-drive travel.

Rob Gallagher, CEO of Adventures, said Outdoor will fit perfectly into the business and benefit from its market expertise.

“Our group has demonstrated capability in increasing the audience size and engagement for our own brands, and those of our partners, within this market by establishing new communication channels and improving the consumer experience,” he said.

“The addition of Outdoor expands our audience reach to over half a million users per month and complements our existing stable of brands that includes Caravan World, CAMPER Trailer Australia, Travelin and Turu.com.au.”

Adventures content director Travis Godfredson said Outdoor is a well-respected masthead with a highly-engaged audience base.

“It’s a brand with a rich heritage that captures the spirit of adventure, with great practical tips on where to, how to and what with,” he said.

“Our mission is to maintain the quality of editorial that Outdoor is renowned for, and enhance it through new formats including video and social channels, as well as closer relationships with our industry and tourism partners.”
