Women’s sport took centre stage last night, with Nine’s Events That Changed Australia landing in sixth thanks to last night’s episode Unstoppable: Women’s Sport.
The special looked at how women have transformed Australia’s sporting scene after decades of exclusion from Australia’s favourite games. It arrived at the perfect moment off the back of Women’s State of Origin Game 1 and in preparation for Game 2 next Thursday.
Quiz shows continued their grip on Aussie audiences, with Nine’s Tipping Point Australia and Seven’s The Chase Australia once again emerging as the biggest non-news programs of the night. The battle between the shows has become one of free-to-air TV’s most reliable ratings contests.
Tipping Point Australia came in a third with a national reach of 1,549,000 and an average audience of 820,000. The Chase Australia came in just below at fourth with a national reach of 1,424,000 and an average audience of 729,000.
Seven’s new SAS: AUS v ENG delivered strong ratings with viewers tuning in to watch their favourite Aussie celebrities, including Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Tim Robards, face off against the brits in military-style challenges.
It came in tenth with a national reach of 1,173,000 and and average audience of 451,000.
Over on Ten, MasterChef Australia came in just below at eleventh with a national reach of 1,029,000 and an average audience of 695,000. Last night’s episode was the dreaded first elimination of the season which saw Bella hang up her apron.
