Brand experience and innovation agency Akcelo has landed the agency of record (AOR) appointment for Queensland Airports Limited (QAL), following a hotly-contested national pitch.
Queensland Airports Limited operates Gold Coast, Townsville, Mount Isa and Longreach airports – gateways that welcome eight million passengers annually across more than 35 domestic and international routes.
The win sees Akcelo take on a full-service remit including brand, strategy, creative, design, digital and website experience, social and events, driving both brand and retail activity across all four airports.
Aden Hepburn, CEO at Akcelo, said: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Queensland Airports as they embark on a bold new era of growth and innovation. Airports are more than just transit hubs, they’re economic engines and cultural gateways. We can’t wait to help shape the strategic and creative vision for four of Australia’s most important regional airports.”
After partnering earlier this year on a major refresh of QAL’s suite of websites, Akcelo was invited to join the national pitch for the AOR business, officially winning the account in June. The business was previously held by a local Gold Coast agency for more than seven years.
Adam Rowe, chief commercial officer at QAL, said: “We were impressed by Akcelo’s ability to blend strategy with creative ambition. We are looking forward to working together to elevate how our airport brand engages with travellers, partners and the broader community.”
The appointment comes as QAL enters a new chapter under majority ownership by KKR and Skip Essential Infrastructure Fund. The consortium acquired the airport group in April 2025.
