AFL Play’s ‘More to Footy’ campaign has returned ahead of the 2026 local football season, shedding light on stories from across Australia that capture the spirit of the game.
Spotlighting volunteers, coaches, players and umpires, the campaign shares eight stories of the individuals and explores what keeps them coming back to the game.
The initiative celebrates that there is ‘More to Footy’ than the on-field experience, recognising that the game is built by its people and the cultures, journeys and backgrounds that unite them.
AFL executive general manager of game development, Rob Auld said the ‘More to Footy’ campaign celebrates the people and stories that sit at the heart of AFL.
“Local footy is built on the passion of people who show up week after week, not just to play, but to support, coach, umpire, volunteer and create environments where everyone feels they belong,” Auld said.
“With a vision for everyone to love and connect with Australia’s game, the ‘More to Footy’ campaign recognises that footy is shaped by the diverse cultures, journeys and backgrounds of the people who make our local clubs such important community hubs,” he added.
