Two of Australian sports biggest sporting personalities are teaming up for a brand new LiSTNR podcast series. Acclaimed broadcaster and The Howie Games host Mark ‘Howie’ Howard joins AFL legend Jason ‘The Chief’ Dunstall for The Howie Games: The Big Five – a fast paced new podcast built around big opinions and fierce debates.
Howard has become one of Australia’s most respected sports broadcasters and interviewers, known for his warmth, humour, and ability to draw remarkable stories from the world’s biggest athletes. As the host of the hugely successful The Howie Games podcast and a familiar voice across cricket, AFL and major international sporting events, ‘Howie’ has built a loyal following through his authentic style and passion for storytelling.
Joining him is one of the most revered forwards in AFL history. In his podcast hosting debut, Dunstall adds another chapter to an extraordinary career that includes AFL Legend status, four premierships, three Coleman Medals, more than 1000 goals for Hawthorn, and a long-standing reputation as one of Australia’s most respected broadcasters across Triple M and Fox Footy.
Across the series, ‘Howie’ and ‘The Chief’ will tackle fan-voted “Top Five” lists spanning sport, pop culture, and everything in between – from the greatest athletes of all time and best sports movies, to old-school TV shows and bakery items.
The Howie Games remains one of Australia’s most-listened-to sport podcasts, with more than 356,000 monthly downloads according to Australian Podcast Ranker Top 200 Podcasts – April 2026. Since launching in 2016, the series has become synonymous with longform storytelling and honest conversations with elite athletes and entertaining personalities.
“If The Howie Games is test cricket, The Big Five is the Big Bash. We know The Chief can be a very passionate man but just wait until we start discussing the best bakery items… this is one of the all-time greats as you’ve never heard him before. These are the fierce debates you have with your crew on who and what is the best of the best!” said Howard.
“I’ve spent plenty of years talking about footy, but this is a bit different – and that’s what appealed to me. I’m keen to have a bit of fun and unpredictability with Howie and argue about the things that really matter in life. I have no doubt there will be some strong opinions and a few controversial calls,” added Dunstall.
“After a decade of Howie flying solo on The Howie Games, teaming up with The Chief is the perfect next step. Their chemistry is instant, their opinions rarely align, and the topics are the kind that spark arguments in pubs, workplaces and family BBQs across Australia. And listeners should keep an ear out for a few very special guests who drop in along the way,” said LiSTNR head of sport – LiSTNR Original Podcasts, Michael James.
The six-part series will be available every Monday in The Howie Games Podcast feed on LiSTNR, with full video episodes also accessible on YouTube, providing listeners with even more access to the chemistry and chaos between the pair. The series will also feature surprise cameos from some of the biggest names in Australian sport and entertainment.
The first episode of The Howie Games: The Big Five is available now with new episodes published every Monday across the next six weeks on the free LiSTNR app.
