The Brief – Cannes Young Lions special

As entries for the 2013 News Limited Cannes Young Lions competition open The Brief talks to past winners and a previous judge to compile a guide for competition hopefuls.

The competition, now in its fifth year, gives young creative talent the chance to represent Australia at the 2013 International Festival of Creativity in Cannes.

To enter participants must develop a creative response or media solution for a brief from the five categories of film, cyber, media, print and marketing.

A panel of industry experts, which are in the process of being finalised, will judge the entries with finalists to proceed to an intensive training round.

From there, the finalists are then given 24 hours to respond to a brief with film finalists given 48 hours to complete their brief.

The competition is open to anyone under the age of 28, or 30 for the marketing category. Entries close on April 10 with winners to be announced at a cocktail event on May 10.

See The Brief to hear past winners experiences in the competition and keep watching to hear their tips.

See The Brief where previous judge and chief executive of UM Australia, Mat Baxter, provides insight into what the competition’s judges are on the lookout for.

Previous winners Jim Curtis of DDB, Sirisha Pulapaka from Westpac and UM’s David Gray share their experiences and tips while News Limited’s group director, Fiorella Di Santo, talks about what the competition means for young creatives.
