As entries for B&T’s inaugural Best of the Best awards have continued to flow on in, we couldn’t help but notice one particular submission from a well-known Aussie sports star.

Our events team did a double take when seeing the name Daniel Ricciardo on one of the entries to our newest awards program before getting confirmation that yes, the Formula One driver and master of ‘the shoey’ is pitting himself against adland’s best and brightest individuals!
Now, you might be wondering how the hell Ricciardo even fits the bill for Best of the Best. Well, when he’s not busy whizzing around race tracks in his McLaren, the F1 star is fulfilling his duties as the chief of optimism at Optus.
Since joining the telco in this unique role in August last year, Ricciardo has been rolling out initiatives focused on optimism in action internally at Optus, and sharing his optimistic attitude with the broader community to inspire motivation and improve workplace culture.
So, if you’ve dreamt of going up against Ricciardo (he’s gunning for the Executive Leader crown, BTW), now’s your chance! We’ve decided to be generous and extend the entry deadline until 5pm (AEST) on Wednesday 7 July. Click HERE to submit!
Presented by Finecast, Best of the Best will bring something unique to this year’s awards season.
While most awards focus on the work of an agency or company as a whole, Best of the Best will celebrate the immense individual talent on show in every area of advertising, marketing and media.
From casting agents to content producers, finance to film directors and project managers to PRs, we want to showcase the brightest talents across the whole industry.
Our Best of the Best awards will also be celebrating the people who continue to do the most, with categories for mentors and social change-makers.
You can find a breakdown of all the different categories here, along with a downloadable file outlining the full submission criteria.
Like our 30 Under 30 Awards, we’ll be having a People’s Choice round after entries close, where you can vote for the entrant who you think is most deserving.
Over here at B&T, we’ll be selecting two very special individuals to present with a Lifetime Achievement Award and a Grand Prix: Adlander of the Year.
Does all this tickle your fancy? It should!
The awards will be judged by an exclusive panel of the industry’s most esteemed execs (we even revealed some of them last month), while also creating a space for new business opportunities and network expansion.
Perhaps most importantly, it is also a prime opportunity to learn from some of the movers and shakers revolutionising the industry.
Here are the key dates just in case you don’t already have them in your diary:
Late entries close: Wednesday 7 July 2021 at 5pm AEST (late entry fee is $399 plus GST/entry)
