Danica Luhrs and Gemma Boucher.

WPP Media has expanded its Brisbane team with two senior appointments, promoting Danica Luhrs to the newly created role of head of planning, WPP Media Brisbane, and Gemma Boucher as client managing partner for EssenceMediacom.

The appointments form part of a broader investment in talent across WPP Media’s Brisbane offering, strengthening its strategic planning, client leadership and implementation and activation capabilities. The expansion comes as the business continues to grow in Queensland and recent new business success including EssenceMediacom’s Michael Hill win.

In the newly created head of planning role, Luhrs will strengthen WPP Media’s planning capability in Brisbane, bringing greater strategic depth to the growing client offering in the market.

Boucher joins EssenceMediacom from a client-side marketing role, bringing a unique perspective to the client managing partner position. With more than 20 years’ experience across agency and client marketing leadership roles in Australia and the UK, she brings broad expertise spanning brand strategy, integrated marketing, customer experience, behaviour change and sponsorship.

The Brisbane expansion also sees client partner Linda Hosamsooi relocate from EssenceMediacom Sydney.

Separately, EssenceMediacom has built a dedicated team to support the recently won Michael Hill account, including Tiwa Odukoya, I&A director; Juliana Ramirez, I&A manager; Phoebe Dolan, I&A manager; and Allie Menzies, I&A executive.

“We’re experiencing tremendous momentum in Brisbane, driven by new client partnerships and business growth, and we’re investing in our team to match that ambition. Gemma brings an invaluable client perspective and a real understanding of what brands need from their agency partners, while Danica’s appointment to the newly created Head of Planning role further strengthens our strategic capability in Brisbane,” said Susan Lyons, client managing director, WPP Media Brisbane.

“Together with Linda and the wider expansion of the team, we’re building greater depth across our offering and bringing together strategic thinking, media expertise and technology to help our clients unlock limitless growth.”
