“Where Words Fail, Music Speaks…Keep The Aux Cord Close!”: Audio Network’s Advice For The B&T Awards MCs

In the lead-up to this year’s B&T Awards (presented by YouTube), we’re sitting down with each of our sponsors to find out why they’ve decided to throw their support behind the event, and how they recognise and celebrate their own achievements and success.

Here, we chat with Audio Network’s APAC sales director, Troy Barrott…

Why did Audio Network decide to support this year’s B&T Awards?

As the B&T Awards are Australia’s biggest, longest-running and most entertaining awards for the advertising, media and marketing industries, it seemed only appropriate that Australia’s highest quality, internationally-renowned production music company joined the party to provide an exciting soundtrack for this coming-out-of-lockdown event.

During the past six months, we have reshaped the Audio Network APAC business – bringing together a new team of incredibly talented and experienced music professionals, opening our first office in Shanghai, announcing new catalogue deals, local composer and artist signings, and re-establishing our credentials as a world-class music service. So, the B&T Awards will also provide us with a chance to introduce our new team to many of our contemporaries for the first time.

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s B&T Awards?

We work incredibly close with these talented businesses, agencies and individuals throughout the year, helping to tell their stories through the impressive Audio Network catalogue, and we’re looking forward to celebrating the resilience of the creative industries through what has been a tough couple of years, and clinking a glass with friends to toast an exciting future.

What will the winners of this year’s awards represent?

While the awards will shine a light on agency and individual genius, the winners will represent an entire creative community – including the music space – in which we have all had to adapt, reinvent and tap deep into innovative strategies to deal with the drama of the past few years. I have no doubt that many of the people in the room at the B&T Awards will have leaned into music for inspiration (and maybe even some personal salvation) over the past couple of years, and for that we are thankful.

How does Audio Network recognise and celebrate its own achievements and success, be they big or small?

At Audio Network, we honour passion, performance, collaboration, innovation and inclusiveness. Each month, our offices around the globe nominate individuals who have excelled in these areas, and we celebrate their achievements and share our experiences together. We also like to gift each other pot plants and cookies from time to time.

What’s your message to all of the finalists for this year’s B&T Awards?

Good luck and well done! It’s some achievement to be recognised by your peers. And whatever you do, make sure you visit the Audio Network merchandise desk, where we have a few surprises in line for you all!

Do you have any tips for the MCs on holding a crowd at what is sure to be a pretty raucous event?

The B&T Awards are a good excuse for attendees to don their glad rags in celebration. Do you have an outfit picked out already?

Being my first B&T Awards, I’m not really sure what to expect or how far to push it out. What I do know is the Audio Network team are a great-looking bunch, so I’m sure we’ll polish up okay! If you see us and love what you’re listening to on the night, please don’t be afraid to say hello. We can’t wait!

The B&T Awards 2021, presented by YouTube, will be held on Friday 12 November at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, kicking off at 6pm (AEDT). Grab your ticket HERE now before they sell out!

B&T can’t wait to welcome guests to the Hordern Pavilion for a COVID-safe event! Adhering to the current NSW Public Health Order, all guests are to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or NSW Health-approved vaccination exemption upon entry to the venue.

Oh, and if you’re wondering which companies and campaigns are up for an award this year, check out parts one and two of our shortlist.

Once again, a huge thanks to YouTube and the rest of our fabulous sponsors for making this year’s B&T Awards possible!
